OMG! DID YOU REALLY JUST POST ABOUT NEVER TRAVELLING? Now I feel like an even bigger douche for what I’m about to tell you.

FOR THE RECORD, DEAR READERS, I constantly encourage Brook to travel, but she continually finds a reason she can’t. Please chime in below if you want to meet the two of us somewhere for a long weekend for an in-person CIAYAPQ talk.

Okay, here goes nothing….. I’m flying to Mexico City. I didn't know this was happening a week ago. But my friend Jess, whom I always travel with, was heading down for her birthday.

My kids were returning to school, and my upcoming week was open.

I'd just been talking about Mexico City while we were with the kids in Cancun for Spring Break. (a week ago. Like I said, DOUCHE!) Then, out of nowhere, the opportunity presented itself. But that's not all!!!!!

When I saw her for dinner last Sunday, my friend Hannah reminded me that she was flying to Korea the following week.

“I wish you could come with me.” she sighed.

I smiled and nodded, barely considering that this was a genuine offer.

It wasn't until two days later, when we met up at yoga, that she pressed me again.

"Seriously, Jenny. Come to Korea. Why not?"

I genuinely thought about what she was saying for what might have been the first time.

My sister was currently in Korea. This was where Jason and I thought we’d take the kids for spring break but pivoted at the last minute because nothing sounded worse than being stuck with our kids on an eleven-hour flight to Korea.

"I mean, I would love to," I told Hannah. But less than an hour ago, I committed to flying to Mexico City.

I couldn't imagine Jason being excited about my coming home and telling him that I was also going to Asia.

Since June of last year, I've been in ten countries: Mexico, Costa Rica, Canada, Israel, Germany, Mexico, Morocco, Turks and Caicos, Kenya, and Mexico again.

Since becoming a mother, I've never traveled this much without my kids. Before becoming a mother, I was a scared, desperate work actress who never wanted to go anywhere for fear of missing out on a big break. Honestly, I regret that time and the months and years I spent waiting for something to happen. And maybe a part of me is now always making up for lost time.

However, this time, I planned to turn Hannah down, mostly because I felt like I'd had too much. I worried that I was being selfish and walking through too many doors without thinking about the impact they might be having on other people in the room.
