WHY AM I OBSESSED W LUIGI MANGIONE?

I know this may sound controversial but I feel badly for Luigi Mangione. Is it because I’m the mom of two Italian sons? Is it because he was his class valedictorian and went on to graduate with honours from an Ivy League school? Is it because he is on the side of the working man? A good guy gone bad? A modern day folk hero? Or is it simply because he’s hot?

If the United Healthcare CEO had been slain by an overweight, nondescript, middle-aged white guy with a Bachelors in communications from ASU, I don’t think I would be googling how to make Pizza Beans, the meal Luigi is apparently being served in prison. Nor would I know that he suffers from a misaligned spine and brain fog, that he paid 2k in rent for his co-living space in Honolulu, that his Tindr profile was a pic of him crouching in front of a volcano, that his late grandmother (died in 2023) left thirty million dollars to her ten children and twenty-something grandchildren. (ironically, she has a clause which states that any grandchild suspected of a felony is not entitled to any portion of the inheritance.) Again, even this makes me sad. Life is giving him lemons and soon he’ll be just another washed up “public figure” on Dancing With The Stars! There has to be another way.
